Richmond Nature Park Summer Programs 2017

The Richmond Nature Park is seeking volunteers aged 15 and over to assist in environmental summer programs throughout the months of July and August. If you are interested in working childcare, education, recreation, and/or show an interest in biology/ecology/geography/environmental science, this opportunity would allow you to gain valuable experience.

Volunteers will be expected to:

  • Support summer program leaders by assisting and supervising children with activities, games, arts and crafts, and out-trips
  • Contribute to a safe, friendly, and inclusive environment where children can learn and play
  • Encourage participation, resolve minor conflicts, and take initiative in situations when needed

Polliwog Preschool (ages 4-6) runs Monday to Friday and available shifts are 9:15am-12:15pm, 1:15pm-4:15pm, or 9:15am-4:15pm from July 10 - August 18.

Nature Quest (ages 6-10) and Young Scientist (ages 10-13) runs Monday to Friday and available shifts are 8:45am-3:15pm from July 3 - August 25.

Camps will take place both indoors and outdoors at the Richmond Nature Park, so volunteers are expected to dress accordingly to the weather and for out-trip locations.

Ideally, volunteers are expected to commit to a minimum of two weeks in order to build relationships with campers and leaders alike.

Volunteers are also required to go through an interview, successfully complete a Criminal Record Check, and attend City Wide Summer Training on Saturday June 24.
